Some Citation Violations Our Attorneys Work With:

  • Speeding – driving above the posted speed limit
  • Disobedience to Traffic Control Device – running a stop sign or lane restriction violation
  • Lane Violation – driving in left lane
  • Overweight – axels carrying greater than the gross weight allowed
  • Defective Equipment – flat tire, broken headlight, etc.

  • Parking Violation – parking where posted signs such as no commercial vehicles, etc. are placed
  • Off Truck Route – Driving in an area where posted signs such as no commercial vehicles or vehicles over a certain weight are placed.
  • DOT Violation – IFTA, registration violation, etc.
  • Careless Driving – driving in a way that is not safe
  • Seat Belt Violation – not wearing a seat belt while driving 
  • Over length – having a trailer longer than 53’, also known as a kingpin violation, where the trailer is farther back than it should be from the tractor

  • Cell Phone/Mobile Device – having a phone in hand while driving 
  • Log book violation – driving over allowed hours, personal conveyance violations
  • Failure to control – failing to steer vehicle properly
  • Bypass Scale/Inspection – not stopping at a port of entry or any other weigh station where a driver is required to stop
  • Failure to Yield – not deferring to the right of way, not pausing while merging
  • Failure to Stop – not stopping for greater than 5 seconds completing a full stop
  • Unlawful Activities – catchall for miscellaneous violations, specifically in PA
  • Following too Close – must allow 2-3 passenger car lengths from the vehicle in front

  • Civil Assessment – Overweight – form or slip (not a citation) for being greater than the gross weight allowed, not usually heard in a court of law, but in another administrative body
